How did we decide to cut our jeans into shorts?
Denim shorts have been around since the 1930s, when they were accepted as leisurely clothing. In the 1960s and 1970s the concept of cutting the legs off of jeans, to allow the raw edge to fray became a trend. Cut-offs can be made from existing jeans, but are also sold commercially.

I haven't thought about denim shorts in such a long time, mostly because i couldn't fit into my pre-baby cut offs. However, they seem to linger around and surge in appearances when they become trendy again. Tank tops, heat, swimming, and big sunglasses seem to be the most sought after summer staples that are best paired with denim shorts.
