Looking to buy leather gloves this holiday season?  One common question I often receive is, what size leather gloves do I buy?  There are a lot of theories but I hope you give you enough information to make you look like a pro.  There are so many options out there, but which to choose?   The first thing to know is that leather gloves are an investment and can range from $400 to $50 in price.  Designer gloves will be on the higher end and your most basic can be under $100.  You truly get what you pay for and know that the lining is usually the price culprit.

  The lining is extremely important because it is the reason your hands stay warm.  I've seen wool, cotton, and silk lined.  Silk is the coldest on your hands, imagine how a silk shirt feels on a windy day, chilly!  I have heard of women that prefer silk because they don't like their hands to get over-heated.  So, keep this in mind when examining the lining.  See, shopping can be a science!

The rule of thumb is that shoe sizes generally run very similar to glove sizes.  For example, if my shoe size is a 6, my glove size is a 6 as well.  However, I've had a rare occasion when that hasn't exactly panned out.  

The most precise way to find out is the following...

1. Grab a measuring tape (inches is what manufacturers use)

2. Wrap measuring tape completely around the fullest part of your knuckles

3. The number you get?  Your glove size!

  I put my theory to the test and sure enough, I measure a 6, just like my shoe size.

  Regardless of what you might think, new leather gloves are supposed to fit taught and a little snug through the knuckles.  After a few times wearing the leather will break in and "fit like a glove."  All new leather is stiff until broken in and will need a little work to make it just right.
