Sheath Dress- A close or tapered fitting dress, usually knee length.

One Shoulder Dress- A dress constructed to lay across the top of the bust line with one shoulder uncovered.

Empire (Waist) Dress - A waistline beginning just below the bust, producing a sweeping, flattering garment.

Sarong- Length of cloth formed around the body to form a dress or skirt. A sarong can be worn by a man or woman.

Cargo Pants- Loose-fitting pants or shorts with large patch pockets, usually with flaps.

Sailor- Pants that are flared at the hem and tie with modified bow at the waist, resembling a sailor’s uniform.

Baseball Hat- A hat that is worn during porting events to protect players visibility from bright sunlight. Originated from the baseball uniform

Bowler Hat- named after Thomas Bowler who created a felt hat with a rounded crown

Fedora- A hat with a soft brim and indented or “pinched” crown

Peacoat- A coat that was originally worn by sailors, is considered an outer coat an generally designed with heavy wool.

Biker- This style of jacket is cropped at the waist, tapered at the chest with a distinct collar, and finished with zippers on the sleeves

Cape- A cape is a sleeveless outer garment that drapes on the wearers back, arms, and fastens at the neck

Swing Coat- A coat that has an “a-line” cut that allows for movement. Finished with military style button cuffs and pockets

Camisole- A Short sleeveless undergarment with spaghetti straps extending to the waist

Henley- A casual shirt without a collar and commonly known as a “baseball tee”

Smock- An embroidery technique in which fabric is gathered and embroidered to hold the gathers in place

Tunic- A simple slip-on top. Made with or without sleeves, can be knee length or longer, may or may not be belted, and can be worn as an under or outer garment

Vest- A sleeveless or upper body garment which is usually worn over a dress shirt and necktie. A vest can be worn under a men’s suit or with more casual attire depending on it’s fabric

Combat Boot- A military style boot that laces up and is constructed of strong materials in its design around the ankle. Today’s trend of a combat boot is considered rugged or edgy. A well-known brand of a combat boot is Doc Marten

T-strap Heel- A heeled dress shoe constructed of leather or leather-like material that is fastened with a strap that crosses in a ‘T’

Pump - A dress shoe in which the heel is much higher off of the ground than the toe in order to have a slimming appearance, similar to a stiletto

Hi-top Sneaker- A tennis shoe that is designed to cover the ankle and usually laces up

Industrial Boot- Similar to the combat boot, ankle is reinforced and is designed to work in industry. This style of boot has been worn in fashion trends a few decades ago

Tiger Print- This print should not be confused with other animal prints such as cheetah or leopard. The longer stripes resemble the striping on a tiger

A-line Dress- A dress that is fitted at the waist and has a flaring or flattering tulip finishing to its hem

Halter Top (or Dress)- A sleeveless top with a wrap neck tied in the back.

Mini Skirt- A shorter hemmed skirt that is hemmed at mid-thigh

Pleated Skirt- A skirt that gathers at it’s waistline That has crinkled or pleated fabric

Skinny Style- Pants that are cut in a slimming- more tapered fit in the waist and legs

Boot Cut- Jeans and trousers that flare from knee to ankle to accommodate boots or similar footwear

Cloche- A hat invented in the 1900’s that resembles the shape of a bell

Beret- A French hat that has a soft, round, flattened crown usually made of knitted fabric

Pillbox Hat- A hat that has no brim and resembles a round pill box or circular shape

Parka- A coat designed with a hood that is lined with fur or faux fur and worn in extreme cold temperatures

Trench Coat- A coat that is constructed with a waterproof, heavy duty cotton and removable insulated lining with raglan sleeves

Cardigan- A sweater or jacket that is collarless and opens in the front

Wrap Coat- A coat with a draped style front and closed with a tie belt.

Tank Top- Manufactured without sleeves and most commonly layered underneath clothing

Ballet Flat- A dress shoe with no heel at all or a very thin heel that was inspired by the women’s ballet

Deck Shoe- A boat shoe that is constructed of leather or a non-marking rubber soles that are designed for use on near the water

Mary Jane- A shoe known as “doll shoes” that has a closed, low-cut shoe with one or more straps across the instep

Sandal- A casual dress shoe that leaves the majority of the foot exposed with straps and can be constructed with or without a heel

Tennis Shoe- A casual shoe that is constructed of leather, has a supporting sole., laces up, and worn in athletic settings

Chevron Print- A print that forms a continuous ‘V’ and has become popular in home decor, wearable fashion trends, and can be found in many color variations

Leopard Print- A pattern that is printed on fabric and worn to resemble a leopard

Wrap Dress- A dress that overlaps at the “V” neckline and ties in the front or back. Designer Diane Von Furstenberg (a.k.a DVF) made the wrap dress famous.

Ball gown- A formal-length evening dress with a full skirt.

Beanie Cap- Hat during colder months that is made from a ribbed-knit fabric that is form fitting

Top Hat- A hat that has a tall-flat crown that is typically worn with formal attire

Blazer- A long sleeve sports jacket with lapels

Poncho- Similar to a wrap, a poncho is a large section of fabric that has an opening in the center and worn as a fashion accessory and to keep warm
